Building What Families Know Is Missing

While the Maher Foundation's website initially focuses on Pillar One and Pillar Two, Pillar Three represents the heart of our long-term mission.

This pillar exists because many families already know the truth: for individuals with high support needs, safe, dignified, long-term care options are limited and often inadequate.

Ignoring that reality does not make it easier. Planning for it does.

The Challenge Families Face Today

Across the country, families encounter long waitlists for residential services, limited availability of high-quality care, few models designed for long-term stability, and constant uncertainty about what happens next.

Many families are forced to choose between unacceptable options or no options at all.

Our Long-Term Commitment

The Maher Foundation is committed to a phased, responsible approach to improving care options for adults with high support needs.

Helping Families Navigate What Exists Today:

We help families understand current options, navigate funding systems and waitlists, ask the right questions, and plan early.

Developing Innovative Care Models:

We are committed to exploring new residential and community-based models, integrated services, and care approaches that balance structure with humanity.

Building or Funding New Residential Facilities:

Over time, we aim to build or help fund new residential environments designed intentionally for adults with high support needs. These should feel like home, not institutions.

Why This Vision Matters

For families, Pillar Three represents peace of mind about the future, relief from carrying the full burden alone, and hope that better options can exist.

Planning for the future should not feel like giving up. It should feel like building something better.
